I thought I’d take a little time today to share with you all the next book I’ve read!
I’m not really sure if this counts as book #2, but I’m going to write about it anyway. Ever heard of the blog Hyperbole and a Half? If you haven’t, you’ve been missing out on author Allie Brosh’s comedic storytelling that’s accompanied by amateur cartoons to help depict the plot. You’ve probably seen some of her illustrations used in memes and listicles (the new word for list articles you see popping up all over the internet) but never knew where they came from.
Like this:
The book isn’t a novel. It’s a compilation of Allie’s hilarious stories, some of which include stories she has already featured on her blog (the oldies and goodies) and new stories she’s written specifically for the book. They’re all good though!
Some of my favorites that she has included in her book that are also on her blog are The Party and The God of Cake. You’ll be cracking up by the end of the story! If not, then we probably don’t have the same sense of humor. But, I guess I can forgive if you don’t like it. (Maybe).
I think one of the reasons why I love her stories so much is because I can relate to a lot of them in some way. Plus, some of the stories are so ridiculous that the images throw them over the top.
So if you’re looking for a light read (or a bunch of short stories you can read whenever you have a few minutes in the day and don’t want to commit to a novel), then this is a great choice! It’s also one of those books where you can always come back to your favorite stories and laugh just as hard as you did the first time.
You can purchase the book at Amazon if you’re interested!
Have a happy Saturday :)
