If you follow my blog regularly, you’ll know that I’m a Birchbox subscriber! And every month, we receive boxes filled with beauty products based on our profiles. Along with the awesome samples I usually get, I love receiving the actual box. It’s high quality cardboard and it’s convenient size makes the box totally reusable. In fact, I keep all of mine because I love them so much!
Today I’m going to show you how to quickly take any old Birchbox (or any cardboard box for that matter!) and turn it into a cute gift box! This is perfect for gifting jewelry and smaller knick knacks.
Supplies:
- Birchbox/cardboard box
- Washi Tape in the colors of your choice
- Scissors
Directions:
1. Pick up the washi tape of your choice and start taping right against the edge of the box.
2. Continue to wrap the tape around the box. Make sure the edges of the tape line up with each other.
3. Now, work on the lid! Since I was using a striped pattern, I did my best to keep the stripes lined up. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it looks really good when the stripes are lined up.
I did the edges of the lid first, but looking back it’s probably better to do the top first and then wrap the free edges under the strips of tape on the sides of the lid.
4. As you can see, you can still see the Birchbox logo. Cover up as you wish! I covered up with red tape and then bordered that with the striped tape to create a gift/name tag for the box.
That’s it!
My lonely, finished gift box. Looks ready to be loaded with tissue paper and little gifts with a twine ribbon!
