Lately, I’ve had the itch to make a chocolate smoothie. However, all the recipes I looked at include bananas, which I’m NOT a fan of. This recipe omits bananas and uses avocado instead to create a thicker smoothie.
Chocolate and avocado are a great mix. You get all the health benefits of avocados (hello, Omega-3 fatty acids a.k.a. good fats) without messing with the flavor of the chocolate. Your taste buds won’t even notice the avocado!
On the days you feel like being bad, this smoothie won’t make you feel like you’re being THAT bad! Plus, you’ll find relief from hot weather in a few months with a few sips of this sweet treat.
You can even turn this recipe into a vegan smoothie with a couple of substitutions!
Chocolate Avocado Smoothie
Makes 2 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of Crushed Ice
- 1 ripe Avocado, peeled and pitted
- 3 tbsp Chocolate Syrup
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup 2% Milk
- Optional: powdered sugar, to taste
Directions:
If you have cubed ice, crush the ice in a food processor. Peel the skin off and remove the pit from the avocado, and slice. Then blend/process the avocado, chocolate syrup, milk, and cocoa powder until smooth. The resulting smoothie isn’t very sweet at all. If you do not prefer to drink it that way, add some powdered sugar and blend further! You can also add agave or honey.
