I think ever since I spotted these Cookies & Cream Doughnuts, I’ve been mildly obsessed with “cookies and cream” everything. Of course, this mild obsession grew and grew and here we are with a Cookies & Cream milkshake.
I tried to make it healthy. I really did. Although, I’m not totally sure why. I don’t think you can make anything cookies and cream truly healthy. Sometimes I think junk food should be enjoyed in full capacity, meaning with all the bells and whistles. None of that reduced this, skinny that nonsense that usually takes away from the taste. But that’s my personal opinion.
Anyway, I combined Oreo cookies with some thick plain greek yogurt to make a sweet and tangy late afternoon treat. This milkshake has a refreshing, tart taste with a hint of chocolate, cookies and cream flavor. To reduce the tart taste, you could play with the proportions a little to your liking but I really liked the way the tart flavor mixed with the cookies and cream.
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain greek yogurt
- 2 cups milk (I used 2% milk)
- 4 Oreo cookies
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. For a sweeter milkshake, reduce the amount of greek yogurt and add more Oreos or granulated sugar.
- Place in the fridge (covered!) and let the milkshake settle and thicken a little for at least one hour. Serve and drink immediately after chilling for the best taste and consistency.
- Some serving suggestions also include topping the milkshake with whipped cream, cookie crumbles, chocolate shavings, or chocolate syrup. Or all of the above.
